FAQ

IS CRYOTHERAPY AN EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR RECOVERY AND HEALTH?

Numerous studies have shown that Cryotherapy is a beneficial treatment for arthritic pain, musculoskeletal pain, inflammation, skin ailments, depression, stress, and much more. Whole Body Cryotherapy in particular stimulates the body’s release of endorphins which are hormones that reduce our perception of pain, trigger a positive euphoric feeling in the body, and enhance immune response. Originally developed in Asia to treat pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, Cryotherapy has been extensively researched in Europe over the past few decades. In fact, Cryotherapy is an accepted medical treatment in many European countries and continues to grow. In the United States, Cryotherapy has become a popular treatment protocol in sports and health industries and is used by professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and UFC.

WHAT DO I WEAR IN THE CRYOSAUNA?

Maximum results come from maximum skin exposure to the cold vapor. All jewelry is to be removed and you must be completely dry before entering the Cryosauna. Your extremities need to be protected from the cold so you will be provided with socks, slippers, and cotton gloves. Undergarments are optional (brief/boxer required for men). A robe will be provided for you to remove once inside the Cryosauna.

HOW DOES WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY FEEL?

The nitrogen gas vapor surrounds your body and supercools the skin without damaging or freezing tissue and muscle. You will feel very cold but the process is dry and painless. A Cryotherapy specialist will administer the treatment and talk to you throughout the 2-3 minute experience. The more treatments you do, the better your body will tolerate the cold! As a result, the release of endorphins will enhance your mood leaving you energized and refreshed!

WHO SHOULD USE CRYOTHERAPY?

Cryotherapy can be used by virtually anyone regardless of lifestyle or age. It helps athletes recover faster and perform better by reducing recovery time and promoting energy. Cryotherapy is also beneficial for chronic pain, inflammatory conditions, skin conditions, stress, mood disorders, and weight loss. Cryotherapy can be a great alternative to traditional pain medications when recovering from injury or surgery.

HOW DOES CRYOTHERAPY COMPARE TO AN ICE BATH?

WBC is much safer, healthier, and more effective than a traditional ice bath. WBC involves exposing the body to hyper-cooled air ranging from -200 to -240° F, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms. During the 2-3 minutes of healing therapy, the brain stimulates the body’s organ regulatory functions resulting in energy increase, cell rejuvenation, immune system boost, increased endorphins and adrenaline, and overall system self-healing.
WBC purifies the blood, increases the body’s nutrient flow, and removes toxins from the system. By increasing the rate at which purified blood circulates through the body, the rate at which soft tissues and joints can heal is maximized.

IS NITROGEN GAS DANGEROUS?

No, nitrogen is a friendly, non-toxic gas. Nitrogen composes 78% of the air that we breathe.
The other components are 16% Oxygen, 1% Hydrogen and 5% other gases. Nitrogen is as common and safe as Oxygen.

I AM CLAUSTROPHOBIC. CAN I USE WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY?

Yes. Your entire head remains exposed to the room and above the Cryosauna. The door cannot lock and the staff member is there through the entire process until the session has ended.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL RESULTS?

When you are new to Cryotherapy we recommend that you come in seven consecutive days to experience the maximum healing benefits.

Will I be wet after the treatment or need to take a shower at anytime before or after?

No, you don’t. This procedure is absolutely dry and does not make your skin wet. You can continue about your day and enjoy all of the benefits of cryotherapy immediately after your treatment.

Can I exercise after the cryotherapy session?

Yes, a distinct advantage of cryotherapy over an ice bath treatment is that the muscle tissues do not actually freeze and thus does not require time to rest. Ten minutes of light exercise post cryotherapy will actually induce more rapid vasodilation of the vessels and capillaries which increases blood flow to the tissues that need it most.
